Hi!

I want to change the order of some of the adress fields in the Cat_Cart module. For example I want to put the Postal code field up before the City field.

I can see in the latest administrator manual on page 47 that there is some instructions of it, but I just can´t understand how to do.

Is it possible to do this? Can somebody assist me?

I have Catalook version 5.8.9 on DNN 5

Best regards

Petri

what you are looking at is the templates section for the email that gets sent out on each order - that is not what you want.

I think that would require some core changes to the module but I did look under the users/Manage Profile Settings and saw you could move thigns up and down but it didn't seem to make any difference.

the alternative is to have a third party form provider - eg.. use a registration form that you can configure yourself and customise.

Hi Petri,

Yes it is possible, but it is far from obvious and the manual does not make things clear at all. I am starting to take the Jedi approach to working from the manual which is to read several times and fail, followed by closing my eyes and using the force. Supprisingly this often gets the right result even if I still don't understand why.

Anyway, it appears that the address details listed to the right of the user name, passwords etc are default fields that the Cart module assumes you will need. In fact most of the fields you first see (those with the options for making Mandetory and/or Visible when logged in as an admin user) are system defaults. The values are taken from the DNN user profile properties but they are hard coded into the Cart module. This is why altering localised text and changing the order within DNN User Accounts does nothing.

To change the order we first have to hide all of the defaults (built in fields) from the Cart module. Then you will show the fields from the DNN User Accounts seporately. Once done you can now change the order etc.

steps
1. Log in as an admin user
2. Go to the Cart module and go to the Bill Address/Shipping Address screens (do this by checking out)
3. Un-check all address fields (this will hide them from normal users)
4. From the Cart module's DNN menu (top left of module) select 'View Options'
5. Within options screen scoll down to the Display section. In here look for 'Hidden Profile Properties (Bill-To Address)' and remove the address fields from the list that you want to be displayed. Previously these fields appeared on the Billing screen as they were hard coded. Removing them from this list puts them back but as a direct link to the DNN User Accounts fields. You will find that they are listed in a slightly different location as well.
6. For the Shipment Address screen you do the opposite. In the field below listed as 'Profile Properties (Ship-To Address)' list the fields (use the original field name from DNN User Account>Profiles i.e. Street, City...) that you want to be displayed.

Simples

Now that you have hidden the defaults and replaced with pointers to the DNN fields you can change the localisation text and field order.

Note: for some reason I cannot quite get it to use the localised text and I am unfortunately still refering to mobiles as cells. Time to go Jedi...

Hope this helps.

Another way if you want to use the CataLook defaults but change the order is to edit _Adress.ascx file in /DesktopModules/CATALooKStore , this solution has one minus- the tabbing between the fields does not follow the order. I think the solution above is the best.
