Did not want to make the title to long so details below.
On our club site we sell memberships and club clothing. We have added club t-shirts and have the pricing as:
Buy 1 at $20 and get the second or more for $15 each for quantities of 2 or more. The buyer can choose one or more of different sizes of the same item to get the discount. The discount works out to be 12.5%.
Problem. How to setup a price rule to do this?
I tried various things and can only get the rule to take effect for a single size if 2 or more are ordered in the same size. I cannot get it to apply the discount for an order that has 1 mens large, 1 womens med, etc. in the cart.
I also tried a cart rule that applied to the product ID and to products advanced category ID which did not work as needed.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Robert,
Based on your description there might be a more direct way to do this. If you look in the Main Data section of the product edit view you'll see various price levels. So, in Price 1 enter $20. In price 2 enter $15 and 2 in the starting from field. I'm not sure if that's what you are looking for but give it a test and see if that meets your needs. |

Vinny,
That only works if a buyer gets 2 or more of one size i.e.
Mens Small 1 = $20.00 each $20.00 line total
Mens Large 2 = $15.00 each $30.00 line total
Cart total $50.00
What happens is like this:
Mens Small 1 = $20.00 each $20.00 line total
Mens Large 1 = $20.00 each $20.00 line total
Cart total $40.00
Should be:
Mens Small 1 = $20.00 each $20.00 line total
Mens Large 1 = $15.00 each $15.00 line total
Cart total $35.00
Or using a 12.5% discount
Mens Small 1 = $17.500 each $17.50 line total
Mens Large 1 = $17.500 each $17.50 line total
Cart total $35.00
I hope that all makes sense.
Edit: Oh, and if there are other items (not these specific tshirts) in the cart, the tshirt discount does not apply to them. |

After some searching on this forum, I found a similar post about discounts and attributes "colors" back in 2009. Last post there was in 2009 and I cannot find anything else that has an answer. |

Is this set up as 1 product (i.e. 1 t-shirt) or multiple t-shirt products? |

Okay not many thought or replies so I will just throw out ideas and see if anyone has ideas. I have created two rules for the t-shirt. 1. based on product providing a % or set price when 2 or more are purchased (only works when the same attribute is purchased) 2. based on Shirts advanced category with no product assigned but Also Purchased is set to the t-shirt, providing a discount of $2 Problem is only the first rule is being applied. The second has no effect. Thoughts? |

Are you using product rule or cart rules? Nina

Hey Nina,
Product rules. I tried to apply a cart rule but it does not work when a customer ordered one of say 2 or 3 sizes. They would only get one discount and not one discount for each of the 2 or 3 items.
May sound confusing so I will try and explain it better if needed.
Thanks,
Robert |
